Bucky's blog: Unlucky Rovers must unite to move forwards

Some fans have started calling for the manager's head once more in the wake of the double header of defeats over Easter weekend.

But there’s a bigger job than just this season I believe. He isn’t trying to excuse himself of any of the blame for this bad run, but it’s easy to sack people.

Look at what happened at Barnsley when they were down at the bottom and couldn’t buy a win. They stuck with Lee Johnson and they turned it around.

I think the board will stick with Darren Ferguson whatever happens this season. We didn’t deserve what happened on Monday.

The manager said he doesn’t mind having a go at his team when they deserve it, but after Blackpool wasn’t the time.

He knows that the performances against Scunthorpe and Colchester were both unacceptable, but the Peterborough and Blackpool games were horribly unlucky.

Blackpool’s winner on Monday was a joke, the ball deflected twice on the way in. That’s just what happens when you’re down there. To quote Ferguson, we really do just need the rub of the green.

We’re not down. But now we have to go away in these next two games and win them both. A draw isn’t much use anymore, we need wins.

I got the impression that the manager will revert back to his three at the back system at Rochdale, with wing backs. After hearing him talk I expect that to happen.

Harry Middleton should stay in the team for me, I think he played well. I think having James Coppinger back in the side has made us look a lot better.

But I don’t think anyone played terribly against Blackpool, we were much the better team in the second half.

Hopefully the supporters can stick with the team, and we can pull off an escape.

Bucky’s charity bet: £5 Rochdale 1 Rovers 3, £5 Butler to score first.
