BREAKING: Doncaster Rovers sign trialist Ed Williams

Doncaster Rovers have completed the signing of midfielder Ed Williams on a two-year deal.

The 25-year-old has been on trial with Rovers for the last fortnight and featured in each of their four friendlies so far.

Williams came through the youth system of Cheltenham Town and signed professional terms but did not make a senior appearance for the Robins.

He joined Gloucester City after leaving Cheltenham and combined playing with studying at Hartpury University.

He joined National League North side Kidderminster Harriers two years ago and scored 15 goals in 51 appearances.

Williams had been due to take part in a trial with Rovers in January but an injury scuppered the plans.

He opted to leave Kidderminster in the summer to pursue a career in league football.

Williams is the last of Rovers’ four original trialists this summer to have his future finalised with Jordan Davies joining Wrexham while Nathan Thomas and Wato Kuate saw their trials ended.
