And the former Bournemouth youngster has been sent out on a season-long loan to Maidstone United.

The 21-year-old impressed during a trial with Rovers over the summer and earned the offer of a contract.

Negotiations between the two parties were protracted and it appeared the deal would not be completed.

However, a last gasp solution was brought about which would see Seaman joining Maidstone to gain more senior experience. He ended last season on loan at Maidstone from Bournemouth.

Rovers have the option of extending Seaman’s deal for an extra year should they wish to.

They also have inserted a recall clause in the youngster’s loan deal which would bring him back to the Keepmoat at short notice.

Seaman had been offered a contract to provide cover at right back for Rovers, with Brad Halliday the only out-and-out option in the position on the books.

The clause in his loan move will allow him to provide cover in case of injury or suspension to Halliday while also seeing him play regular football at first team level.

Seaman featured as a trialist for Maidstone last weekend in their friendly with Dover Athletic and will be available for their FA Cup qualifying round clash with Hendon on Saturday.

A former scholar with Bournemouth, he signed professional terms in 2018 but was released earlier this summer without making a senior appearance for the club. He spent time on loan with Dundee United, Maidstone and Eastleigh.
