And it just so happened that it was attached to one of the players without the greatest of goalscoring records.

But Brad Halliday’s turn as a wizard - or ‘Halli Slotter’ as he put it himself on Twitter - finally got its long-awaited first airing on Saturday.

Halliday himself had resisted the temptation to ask for his own sneak peak, preferring to wait until he grabbed his first goal for Rovers, which came in the win over Gillingham at the weekend.

“It’s a bit funny like,” he said of his own personal goal GIF.

“I’ve not seen in myself but I’ll be having a good look.

“It’s been a while, waiting for this goal.

“I’ve played a lot of games over the last 18 months and it’s something I wanted to add to my game as soon as I walked through the door.

“I’m glad it’s come.

“Hopefully with this goal, maybe further down the line I get a couple more.”

Halliday’s continued development as one of Rovers’ top attacking threats has seen him take up positions higher up the pitch.

And he got the opportunity to start on the right wing rather than his typical right back role in Rovers’ win over Northampton Town.

“I enjoyed it,” he said. “I was right wing and I enjoyed getting that spell further up the pitch.

“I made a few runs in behind.

“It's good that the group can be versatile, players can play in different poitions.

“We all fancy ourselves that you could put us anywhere and we all know our different positions. We know the roles that come with those positions.

“It gives us confience the manager has confidence on us to play us in different positions.

“We know we can go and express ourselves in those positions and put a shift in for the team.

“The most important thing is for us to get the three points.

“It was just as any normal game.

“As I play at right back any way a big part of my game is going forward and trying to attack and getting the team going.

“It wasn’t much different really.”
