Doncaster Belles: Jess Sigsworth suffers cruciate knee ligament injury

The England U23 striker - one of this season’s stand-out performers - will almost certainly miss the rest of the campaign after partially rupturing her ACL.

News of the injury to Sigsworth is another bitter pill to swallow for Belles, who sit bottom of FAWSL1 having lost all eight of their games.

Prolific striker Courtney Sweetman-Kirk also suffered a broken leg in pre-season, while former England forward Natasha Dowie left following the exit of manager Glen Harris.

Belles’ next games is at Liverpool on August 27.
