Brooks was crowned champion after getting the better of Anne Marie Potts 3-0 in the final at Sand Le Mere Holiday park in East Yorkshire.

With the field boasting some strong competition, Brooks began the contest by dispatching Julie Thompson in the first round, having had 236 left when Thompson was on 40.

Brooks hit 180 and when Thompson missed, Brooks then took out 56 in two darts to win.She then advanced through three further rounds before a 3-1 semi final win over Claire Stainsby, before her convincing win over Potts in the final.

“The game against Julie Thompson was a cracking game,” said Brooks, from Wroot.

“All the top county players from the north east and Yorkshire were at the meeting so it wasn’t a bad one to win. It was a great weekend.”

Brooks and her doubles partner Deta Hedman also claimed another title to go along with with the pairs’ Dutch Open crown, by winning the Isle of Man Ladies pairs Championship. The pair recorded victory over Anastasia Dobromoslova and Lorraine Winstanley in the final.

“Me and Deta always have a good run. In singles competitions it always seems to be her that knocks me out, or me that beats her,” said Brooks.

“But she’s a top player and an experienced player, and we help each other out when we play doubles and we drag each other along. We’re a good team, it’s just a shame when we have to play against each other.

“But it does make you a better player.

Brooks is set for more county darts this weekend in Cheshire, before the German Open, where she’ll hope to repeat her success at the Dutch Open. “There will be a lot of fantastic players in Cheshire. And with the German Open soon after, it’s important to try and give my best.”
