Cricket: Crowle fall to Scunthorpe in agonising run chase

The Lincolnshire County First Division match was reduced to 44 overs each due to rain, and Outcasts put Scunthorpe in to bat first having won the toss.

Neil Patrick and David Brown started well with the bat however and put on 63 for the first wicket before Patrick was bowled by Liam McAnaney for 16.

Brown was looking set for a big score before he flicked a catch to Charlie Mason at backward square off Deol Singh which left the total on 91-2.

Matt Pashley was then caught by John Stokoe at slip off Singh, before Kory Brown and Ben Ibrahim steadied things for Scunthorpe, adding 44 for the fourth wicket.

Ibrahim completed his 50 and took Scunthorpe to 205.

Clark and Matthew Teal opened the batting for the Isle side and like Scunthorpe they made a splendid start, putting on 66 for the first wicket.

Teal was playing some fabulous shots but fell five short of what would have been a deserved half century then Buttrick inexplicably played around a straight ball and was bowled by Pop Robson without troubling the scorers.

Clark was then caught for 25 followed by Charlie Mason and Stokoe adding 45 in quick time, and Outcasts looked in control.

Mason and Russell Fletcher were both caught and when Stokoe was unexpectedly caught for 58, Town were in control.

Outcasts needed 35 more runs at that stage, but fell agonisingly short to lose by six runs.
