A number of safety measures will be in place once Debenhams reopens to customers later this month.

The retailer has said stores will reopen with strict social distancing and hygiene procedures in place, while perspex screens will be installed at tills, and all staff will be given personal protective equipment to wear.

Stores will also reopen with reduced hours, although timings will vary by store. Shoppers should check online for the opening hours of their local branch before visiting.

In-store cafes will also remain closed once sites reopen. It has not yet been confirmed if this is a temporary or permanent measure.

While the government is permitting non-essential shops to reopen from 15 June, cafes, pubs and restaurants must remain closed to customers until at least 4 July under lockdown rules.

Shoppers can also continue to shop online at Debenhams as normal, with delivery costs priced from £3.49 on orders less than £50. Orders that exceed £50 will be granted free delivery.

Debenhams will also have free click and collect service, along with free returns, at its newly reopened stores.

Will any other stores reopen?

Non-essential retailers, including shops selling clothes, shoes, toys, furniture, books, and electronics, will be allowed to reopen to customers from 15 June.
