Yorkshire Rose College celebrates generous donation to their hair and beauty salon
Students learning hair and beauty skills are thrilled with new equipment and products to assist their education.
Yorkshire Rose College (previously known as Communication Specialist College Doncaster) offers a wide range of vocational classes to its students.
The college, which is managed by registered charity The Carr Fenton Foundation, educates, trains, and cares for students who are deaf, hard of hearing, autistic, or who have other communication needs.
Students attending the college, based on Leger Way, have a diverse range of needs, from those with severe learning disabilities, who need one-to-one support, to those who can access a full curriculum independently.
They teach motor vehicle skills, carpentry, catering, horticulture and even have their very own salon on site where students can learn all about the hair and beauty industry.

The salon was named ‘Inspire’ by the students in October of 2025 when it underwent a refurbishment.
Inspire was recently the recipient of a donation from Realise Training, a UK based training provider who specialise in apprenticeships and adult education.
Realise donated hairstyling products, model beauty heads and a range of beauty products. Becca Lynch, fundraising officer for The Carr Fenton Foundation, said: “We are so grateful to all our partners for supporting the work we do.

“The equipment kindly donated by Realise is a very welcome addition to our revamped health and beauty salon, which we soon hope to open to outside bookings, providing vital experience for our students.
“Everyone at the salon and college would just like to say a huge thank you to Realise for choosing to support us, it really is so impactful for our students.”
Julie Taylor, Head of Strategic Partnerships in the Realise Health and Social Care department, said: “Realise is committed to building strong, meaningful relationships with organisations that make a real difference in local communities.

“We are so pleased to make this donation of equipment to the college for their salon and we also have a developing relationship with the Foundation’s Aspire to Be specialist employability programme as well.
“We recognise the vital role The Carr Fenton Foundation plays in supporting young people and adults with communication needs, learning differences and other barriers to education and employment, and we are eager to contribute to that mission.”
