Woman in court charged with attempted murder of her 86-year-old mother

Crowle residents have been left reeling after an attempted murder took place in the town.

Police and parademedics were called to an address on Wharf Road at 2.22am on Tuesday December 16 where an elderly woman was suffering with injuries to her hip.

Two separate ambulances attended and two females were taken to Scunthorpe General Hospital – one in each vehicle.

A 58-year-old woman has been arrested and charged following the incident.

Linda Hutchinson, 58, of Kingsway in Garforth, appeared at North Lincolnshire Magistrates’ Court charged with one count of attempt murder of her 86-year-old mother Alicia Delna Maw.

She has been remanded for a further court appearance this week.

A neighbour, who did not wish to be named said: “I can’t believe it.

“I don’t really know her as she is a very private person, you very rarely see her.”

Another added: “It’s scary to think this happened on our street. You never think it will happen on your doorstep.”

Builders, working a few houses away from the scene of the incident said: “We didn’t know anything about it until we saw the police back into the drive. It came as a shock.”

Humberside Police confirmed this week that the victim is receiving hospital treatment and is considered to be recovering.
