Around 8,000 fans flocked to the venue where the former Pop Idol winner took to the stage after an afternoon of racing on Saturday.
The Evergreen singer was the first act to perform as part of this year’s Music Live series, after a packed seven-race card at the Town Moor venue.
The singer performed a raft of songs from his current album, 85% Proof, which is his fourth to reach number one.
Abby Chandler, Marketing Manager for Doncaster Racecourse commented on the first of this season’s Music Live events: “It was a fabulous opening to our Music Live season. After a great evening of racing the crowds were kept entertained into the night with a fantastic performance by Will Young.
“We continue to look forward to a packed summer of fun at Doncaster Racecourse and welcoming DJ Craig Charles and iconic 80’s band Level 42 over the weekend of 3rd and 4th June.”
The next musical extravaganza will take place at the racecourse on Friday, June 3 when Craig Charles will perform a live DJ set, followed by live music from Level 42 on Saturday, June 4.
And the Sex Bomb singer himself Tom Jones will be performing at the Doncaster venue on Saturday, June 25.
