Hour-by-hour weather forecast: How long will the heavy rainfall last in Doncaster?

As Storm Christoph is set to barrel though South Yorkshire starting today (January 19), Doncaster is braced for up to a month's worth of rain and possible widespread flooding.

The Met Office has on Monday sounded an amber weather warning for the town, which is valid from 6am on Tuesday through midday on Thursday.

In a statement, the forecasters said the Storm Christoph will bring multiple hazards to the UK this week, which started off with heavy rain that will lead to flooding in some areas.

The amber warning for rain was issued for parts of northern, central and eastern England while separate yellow warnings for rain cover Northern Ireland, Wales, southern Scotland and the rest of England.

The day will start off cloudy for Doncaster as outbreaks of rain are expected throughout the day and becoming more persistent, as maximum temperature reaches 10°C.

Meanwhile, persistent and at times heavy rain will continue throughout the night, with a minimum temperature of 8°C.

The Met Office has warned the people that the amounts of rainfall along with snowmelt present a real threat of flooding.

Mayor Ros Jones said key risk areas have been inspected over the past 36 hours, sand-bags have been handed out in flood-risk areas and will continue over the next 24 hours.
