Doncaster under weather warning as high winds batter the borough
Doncaster was this morning under a yellow weather warning as strong winds battered the borough.
The Met Office says gusts of 50-55 mph are possible inland, especially close to showers. Gusts may reach 60-70 mph on coasts and hills, especially in the west, before gradually easing on Thursday afternoon, they added.
They said strong winds accompanied by heavy and blustery showers may bring some disruption.
They have said it could bring:
>Delays for high-sided vehicles on exposed routes and bridges likely
>Some short term loss of power and other services is possible
>Some delays to road, rail, air and ferry transport are likely
>Probably some bus and train services affected, with some journeys taking longer
Delays have already been reported on some rail routes, with reports of one of the morning rail services having been running late. It has not been said if that was wind related.
They state gales are the most common cause of damage and disruption in the UK.
