During lockdown, free senior travel was extended to services running before 9.30am to enable over-60s people to get to supermarkets to do essential shopping during the coronavirus lockdown.

However, from yesterday (June 8), ahead of the increased relaxation of lockdown restrictions on June 15 – which will see staff from many non-essential shops and businesses required to go back to work and busier public transport – this will no longer be the case.

Stagecoach South Yorkshire said: “The restriction on senior concessionary travel before 9.30am is due to be restored on 8 June in South Yorkshire and 15 June in Derbyshire to make sure the maximum possible capacity is available for key workers and others who need to travel for work.”
