Driver escapes injury in Doncaster rush hour crash drama

Witnesses said several police cars attended after what appeared to have been be a collision between a lorry and car on Wheatley Hall Road near Sandall Park, at shortly before 8am today.
It was also reported to be causing traffic hold-ups around rush hour, and officers were still on the scene for some time after they received the inital call.

Hide AdPolice sealed the road off at the junction with Thorne Road, and three police cars were on the scene, although no ambulance was seen there, according to eyewitnesses who were in the area.
The car parked behind the lorry on the road appeared to show damage to the front end of the vehicle, which was of a dark colour, and several police officers wearing high visibility clothing could be seen around the vehicle. The lorry was a large, white articulated vehicle.
The incident happened near the junction with Jefferson Avenue and Clay Lane.
South Yorkshire Police confirmed they had been called out to attend the incident this morning.

Hide AdA spokesman for the force said today: “Police were called at around 7.50am this morning following reports of a collision on Wheatley Hall Road, close to the roundabout with McDonald’s.
“It is reported that a blue Volvo and a DAF lorry were involved in the collision.
“Nobody was injured,” they added.
