Transport boss visits Doncaster firm helping to keep London Underground running
The firm welcomed transport officials
A top transport boss has visited at a Doncaster factory helping to keep the London Underground running.
Last week, London Transport Commissioner, Andy Lord, met with Henri Murison and Paul Hirst from The Northern Powerhouse Partnership, as well as Dr David McGorman – Chief Engineering and Technology Officer along with Justin Moss - Business Development Director for Rail and Public Transportation at Unipart to see how Transport for London (TfL’s) supply chain supports jobs, skills and economic growth across the UK.

Unipart specialises in the supply, maintenance, overhaul and lifecycle management of rail infrastructure and rolling stock components, helping to maintain the expertise and capabilities that keep London’s transport network moving.
TfL’s supply chain supports more than 100,000 jobs across the UK - from Doncaster to Ballymena in Northern Ireland, as well as Fleetwood in Lancashire, Scarborough and the Isle of Wight to name but a few.

These partnerships show how investment in London’s transport network also supports businesses, skilled jobs and engineering expertise in communities across the country.
London’s Transport Commissioner Andy Lord said: “London’s transport network is essential to support economic growth – but it can only function thanks to our extensive UK-wide supply chain.
“TfL invests billions through more than 3,000 suppliers, and we are keen to continue working with Government to ensure we can keep investing in our roads, bus and rail services to support a safe and reliable transport network, while also supporting jobs and economic growth around the country."
