Doncaster Rovers Belles' tough start to life in the FA Women's National League continued with a 5-0 defeat at Stoke City.

Zoey Shaw’s young team lost 9-0 to Blackburn Rovers on the opening weekend of the season.

There were signs of progress when they only trailed to Meg Bowyer’s header at the break at Community Drive.

But Stoke surged clear in the second period with goals from Ashleigh Hayes, Hannah Keryakoplis (2) and Tash Tezgel.

Belles face Chorley in the preliminary round of the FAWNL Cup on Sunday at Rossington Main (2pm).
