South Yorkshire schools given cash to turn into more money for Rotherham-based children’s hospice

Nine classes from schools across Barnsley, Rotherham, Sheffield, Worksop and North Derbyshire are taking part in the challenge, organised by the North Anston-based hospice.

The classes will all compete to raise the largest amount of money for the charity through unique initiatives.

Helen Mower, head of fundraising at Bluebell Wood, said: “It’s fantastic to have so many children involved - they are really enthusiastic and have lots of inspirational ideas as to how they are going to raise funds for us.

“It’s really important to us as a local charity to have such brilliant community involvement, especially from the next generation of Bluebell Wood supporters.

“We are really excited to see and hear all about their creative fundraising activities. Two children from each school will present back to us in a few weeks about their journey through the challenge.”

TSB and Provide Education have sponsored the challenge.

TSB will provide personal business experts for each school, as well as the start up cash.
