A picture taken at Jubilee Park in Hatfield yesterday shows a large number of people gathered in the car park, seemingly in breach of coronavirus lockdown restrictions.

One eye witness, who spotted the group, said that members had been drinking and smoking and mingling freely and were not following the 2m social distancing rules.

He said the group were in their teens and 20s and added: “Old enough to know better.”

Last Sunday, Prime Minister Boris Johnson eased lockdown restrictons in England, stating that people were allowed out for unlimited exercise and able to meet one other person from another household, as long as the meeting took place in public and that social distancing rules were maintained.

It is understood that the gathering in Hatfield was a memorial event and mourners said social distancing had been respected.
