One homeowner spoke to the Free Press about the problem which has developed on St Mary's Road in Wheatley.
They said: “It was reported as a big hole earlier this year, approximately one metre square. You could see down to the blocks of metal underground.
"Now it have sunk again, as you can see (pictured) a guy from DMBC turned up this afternoon with a pickaxe and a bag of asphalt.
“All emergency services use this road, also it’s one way.”
They added: “I'm sure there will be a vehicle's wheel stuck in it soon.
“It won't last whatever the guy did at all, he could have possibly made it worse. Yorkshire Water have sent letters out today saying they will be working on the sewer system in the street soon. If they use heavy-duty vehicles it could quite be disastrous.”
We have contacted the council for more information.
