Using her first-aid knowledge taught by St John Ambulance, the 17-year old from Whiston administered help to three people, including a 10-year old child.

Her actions and commitment to learning first aid have now been recognised at a Buckingham Palace reception to reward young St Jphn Ambulance volunteers for their achievements. Georgia, of Dewhill Avenue, Whiston, joined 85 others aged five to 18 to meet HRH Princess Anne, patron and Commandant in Chief for Youth of the nation’s first aid charity. She has learned first aid over three years as a cadet with the St John Ambulance Rotherham and Enzor No 1 cadet unit.

The Brinsworth Academy Sixth Form student hopes to become a doctor in the future and is also working towards the St John Ambulance ‘Grand Prior’ award.

St John Ambulance youth leader, Rowena Clarkson said: “Georgia is a really pleasant and responsible young leader and has a great rapport with the young people in our unit. She’s definitely worthy of the title Young Achiever!”

Philip O’Donnell, regional manager of youth services, said: “The reception is a great way to recognise the commitment of these young people.”
