Thorne Road near Clay Lane and Edenthorpe will be closed once again following closures earlier this year before the coronavirus pandemic caused delays to the project.

The roadworks will take place on the stretch between Shaw Lane roundabout and the roundabout for the West Moor Link Road near Sainsbury’s.

“There’ll be a 14 day closure of the road from 8pm today (July 13). Once the closure is in place, it will remain there until foundation works are complete.

“That will be followed by 25 night time closures from Tuesday 11 August (10pm and 6am). The road will be open outside of these hours.

“These closures will allow vital building work to be done for the new bridge.

“We apologise for any disruption; the timings of the works have been planned during school holidays and overnight to minimise this as much as possible.

A council spokesman said there will be some flexibility on start dates as the authority continues discussions with Network Rail.

The start dates maybe slightly later but the works will last for the stated number of days. Signed diversions will be in place.

The work is to replace the existing bridge and improve journey times from the West Moor Link into Doncaster.
