Rescued lion from the award-winning Yorkshire Wildlife Park predicts England to win ahead of Ghana match.
Three-year-old Teddi is backing England to beat Ghana in their head-to-head on Tuesday and move one step closer to bringing the World Cup trophy home.
Dr Charlotte MacDonald, Director of Animals at YWP, said: “Three lions on a shirt? Teddi seems to think that’s a winning combination!”
Now thriving at Yorkshire Wildlife Park after being rescued from war-torn Ukraine, Teddi arrived in Doncaster with mum Aysa and siblings Emi and Santa following a remarkable journey to safety.
Their arrival formed part of the park’s Lion Rescue 2 mission in 2024, which brought the traumatised family from Ukraine to their forever home in Yorkshire after being abandoned when war broke out.
The rescue built on Yorkshire Wildlife Park’s long history of giving lions a second chance. In 2009, Lion Rescue 1 saw thirteen African lions rescued from cramped concrete enclosures in Romania after a public appeal raised £150,000 to create a purpose-built reserve.
Lion Rescue 3 took place last year and saved three more cubs from Ukraine.

Oleg was rescued after being left behind during conflict in the Sumy region, while siblings Rafael and Shanti survived against the odds after being found beside their dying mother in the Kharkiv region.
More than two years on from leaving conflict behind, Teddi and his family are enjoying the life they always deserved with grass under their paws, fresh Yorkshire air and sunshine in their forever home.
The rescues were made possible through the Wildlife Foundation charity, based at the park, which supports emergency transport, veterinary care and rehabilitation for animals in need.
Visitors can see the lion family located in Lion Country, where the reserve spans seven acres and offers 360-degree views from the waterfall bridge.
YWP, which puts conservation at the heart of all its activities, offers visitors a mesmerising walk-through experience, bringing guests almost face to face with some of the world’s most beautiful and at-risk species, including Polar Bears, Black Rhinos, Giraffes and African Painted Dogs. Please find footage of the prediction here:
