The grass roots authority received this news from Yorkshire Water: “'Our repair work has started this morning, we hope to have this completed within 48 hours and I’ll update you if this changes.

“Due to the volume of flows we need to tanker from our Kirton Lane site to Moorends as well as from Hatfield, Bootham and Stainforth. This means there will be some tankers using the route through Thorne on Ellison Street, Miller Lane, Haynes Road, Coulman Street and Marshland Road.

"These will be rigid tankers, not the tractor trailers, and we’ll be trying to reduce usage to two per hour after 7pm. The other tankers will be using the M18 to take flows to Thorne and Omega Boulevard, a road sweeper will also be in use.

“We’re sorry for any disruption and really appreciate everyone’s patience.'
