Quacking fundraising effort by Epworth's water babes

Children who attend swimming lessons with the Puddle Ducks school enjoyed raising over £700 for The Children’s Hospital Charity, which helps to make Sheffield Children’s Hospital a welcoming place for patients.

Puddle Ducks’ classes take place in Epworth and Doncaster. Families and friends splashed out to support the youngsters and to help a deserving cause.

Every autumn, the swim school stages its week-long charity event when all children attend lessons dressed in their pyjamas. The exercise teaches them valuable water safety and survival skills.

Puddle Ducks asked their swimmers to vote for which charity they would like to benefit from the special week.

Sheffield Children’s Hospital was selected because it provides a full range of services for children and young people across Sheffield, South Yorkshire and beyond.

It provides emergency care for more than 52,000 children every year and is a designated paediatric major trauma centre and the principal treatment centre for children with cancer and leukemia in South Yorkshire, Lincolnshire and North Derbyshire. There are also dedicated centres for children with neurological conditions, mental health issues and learning disabilities.

Nicola Codd from Puddle Ducks said: “We are delighted to be supporting this amazing charity with our PJ Week. It is a great way of teaching our students important lifesaving skills in a fun and relaxed environment, whilst raising money for a great cause.

“Sheffield Children’s Hospital do fantastic work and we will continue to support them throughout the year as our nominated charity. We want to thank all of the children for joining us and for all of their great work in raising over £700.”

Puddle Ducks provides tuition for children up to five years, with a focus on teaching independent swimming with individually tailored activities to suit all abilities.
