£80 million investment in flood defences secured

The government this week announced it was to splash the cash to provide vital flood defence work across the region - including the Isle.

Isle MP Andrew Percy ia among a number who have fought hard to secure extra investment in local flood defences and has led delegations to meet with the Prime Minister and the Chancellor to push the case.

The Chancellor of the Exchequer, George Osborne, has today given the go ahead for £80 million of investment in 18 major flood defence schemes in the Humber region - including at Keadby and Owston Ferry.

These schemes will improve flood protection for 50,000 households.
