Portas bid fail

GAINSBOROUGH’S £100,000 hope of rejuvenating the town centre has taken a step back as a bid to become one of 12 Town Teams was turned down.

The Government scheme was backed by retail guru Mary Portas.

Town centre manager David Hawkins co-ordinated the bid which was shot on video by Trent Valley Academy students.
