The Co-op store on Beckett Road will shut down on February 20 – but shoppers needn’t be too disappointed as the shop is soon set to bounce back.

It is understood that when the store re-opens it will be rebranded as a Heron Foods outlet.

A spokesman for the Co-op, confirmed: “Co-op regularly reviews its properties and after careful consideration our Beckett Road store has been sold.

"The decision to sell any store is never taken lightly.

"Colleagues have been informed, and our priority has been to provide them with our full support to ensure they have either found alternative positions at the Co-op or have transferred under TUPE regulations to the new operator. We would like to thank the community for its support over the years.”

Heron Foods already has a number of branches in the Doncaster area.
