Welcome
After an intriguing and long night in the mayoral race, the counting begins again but this time for the 55 seats up for grabs in the council chamber.
And it should prove to be equally as interesting in showing how much ground the Conservatives have made up in the town.
The Tories gained 8,000 votes on top of their performance in the previous mayoral election but it did not translate to success in the race as Labour’s Ros Jones secured a third term with a majority of approximately 10,000.
It remains to be seen whether the Conservatives can make tangible gains in the council elections or if Labour can maintain strong control over the chamber.
Our local democracy reporter George Torr is on hand at Doncaster Racecourse for the count and we will be bringing you the results as they come in.
