Picture of Doncaster MP Ed Miliband getting off plane nine years old, checks reveal

The picture has been widely shared since Labour’s General Election landslide in an apparent attempt to smear the Doncaster North MP.

But fact checking websites have revealed the photo is not a recent one – it was taken in Glasgow in 2015.

The image shows Mr Miliband getting off an Embraer jet during that year’s election campaign when he was Labour leader.

In one recent case the picture was accompanied by a caption reading: “I see Ed Miliband is off in his ‘NOT Zero’ Ukulele tour via private Jet.”

A reverse image search shows that the photograph was used in a news article from more than nine years ago.

Another said: “Hypocrisy, Labour get in and the first thing Miliband does is get on his private jet.”
