Doncaster MP and former Labour leader Ed Miliband reacts to Keir Starmer victory

Doncaster MP and former Labour leader Ed Miliband has congratulated Sir Keir Starmer on winning the party’s leadership contest.

The 57-year old defeated Lisa Nandy and Rebecca Long-Bailey in a ballot of party members and other supporters. He won 56.2 per cent of the vote, according to Britain Elects.

The lawyer has been an MP since 2015 and represents London’s Holborn and St Pancras consituency. He has also served as the Shadow Brexit Secretary.

Mr Miliband, who represents Doncaster North and served as leader of the Labour Party from 2010 to 2015, said: “Congratulations to Keir Starmer on a clear and deserved victory.
