Doncaster councillor rejoins Reform UK days after quitting party to sit as an independent
A councillor in Doncaster has rejoined Reform UK days after quitting the party to sit as an independent.
Nicola Brown, who represents Adwick & Carcroft on the City of Doncaster Council, quit Reform UK last week and was listed as an independent councillor the morning after Thursday’s chaotic full council meeting.
Cllr Brown did not comment when approached by the Local Democracy Reporting Service (LDRS) for the reasons of her departure from the party, but the LDRS did confirm she had resigned the whip.
However, come the morning of Monday, December 1, 2025, Cllr Brown is once again listed as a Reform UK councillor on the council’s website.

It follows a week of turmoil for the Doncaster Reform UK group, which ended with the group leader, Cllr Guy Aston, stepping down from the role on Friday.
Cllr Aston was defeated by his own councillors in the chamber on Thursday, when he proposed removing Cllr Jason Charity as chair of two different council committees, including Audit Committee.
In an email to his party colleagues announcing he was stepping down as leader, Aston said he had received “unpleasant, vitriolic texts that border on abuse” from people who were councillors in his own party.
The LDRS has approached Cllr Brown for a comment.
