More homes could be on the way to a Doncaster town close to a next site where 400 properties have already been given planning permission.

Barratt And David Wilson Homes want to build 55 homes on land off Doncaster Road, Hatfield and provide areas of open space.

Outline permission was originally granted most recently as November 2020 for the wider site for up to 400 homes between Linden Homes and Barratt And David Wilson Homes.

The proposal itself includes 55 homes located to the southern end of the development site, being a mixture of two storey properties of detached, semi-detached and terraced types.

The site is located within Countryside Policy Area as defined by Doncaster’s Unitary Development Plan but the area has been earmarked for housing in the emerging Local Plan.

No representations were received from Hatfield Town Council or the public.

If approved by councillors, the applicant will be required to provide £145,716 for the provision of school places at Dunsville Primary.

Doncaster Council planning officer Mark Sewell, said: “Officers have identified no adverse economic, environmental or social harm that would significantly or demonstrably outweigh any benefits identified when considered against the policies in the National Planning Policy Framework taken as a whole.

“The application seeks permission of the details reserved by an earlier application allowed on appeal and it is considered that subject to the recommended conditions, there are no material considerations which indicate the application should be refused.

“The proposed layout offers adequate protection of residential amenity as a result of its design and layout, and will be of a design which sits sympathetically with existing development, following the principles established by the wider outline consent for the site.”
