Police investigate cause of Amcotts house fire

Humberside Police are now investigating the blaze which occurred at a property on Middle Lane in the early hours of Tuesday January 6.

Humberside Fire and Rescue were called to the house fire when one of the occupants and a neighbour raised the alarm.

Two casualties were conveyed to Scunthorpe General Hospital and were treated for smoke inhalation. Their condition is described as being ill, but stable.

At this stage police officers are investigating the cause of the blaze and in order to progress enquiries are urging members of the public to come forward with any information they may have.

An appeal is made for any witnesses who may have been in or around the area at the time of the incident or who have information they believe may be useful to police enquiries.
