Doncaster Phoenix continued their march towards the North One East title with a 29-0 win at local rivals Wheatley Hills.

The Castle Park club are 23 points clear of second-placed Morley with games running out, although the Leeds side do have two matches in hand.

Phoenix need 13 points from their remaining five games to seal back-to-back titles and promotions.

Defeat for Wheatley, on the other hand, saw them drop to second from bottom in the table.

Phoenix went ahead after 15 minutes when full-back Dan Parker found a gap in the defence and crashed over for a try which fly-half Jamie Lennard converted.

There was no further score until the 40-minute mark when No 8 Ryan Peacey touched down for the second try.

As the game went into first half injury time, Phoenix were awarded a penalty and the ever-reliable Lennard slotted it over to give the visitors a 15-0 interval lead.

Phoenix made a steady start to the second half, increasing their lead after seven minutes when prop Tom Bagnall ploughed his way over and Lennard added the conversion.

On 70 minutes left winger Josh Fowler raced over for the bonus point try and Lennard again added the extras.
