Picture gallery shows how Doncaster looks tonight as residents build up flood barriers

This is how parts of Doncaster looked this afternoon – with parts of the borough placed on flood alert.

Sandbags have been distributed across the borough and are after the Environment Agency put areas inluding Bentley, Fishlake, and Conisbrough on alert, with large amounts of rain due to fall on already wet ground.

River levels are forecast to rise across the Lower Don Catchment as a result of persistent rainfall, which is due to continue through until Thursday morning

Flooding of minor roads and farmland is possible from this evening onwards, say experts. By tomorrow afternoon, January 20, ‘very high’ river levels are expected.

Our pictures show how residents have been preparing to defend their homes if there are floods.
