PHOTOS: Huge blaze engulfs four houses on busy Doncaster road this afternoon

A huge fire has ripped through a row of terraced houses alongside one of Doncaster’s busiest roads this afternoon.

Emergency services are at the scene of the incident in Balby Road after flames broke out earlier this afternoon.

The outgoing lane of Balby Road has been sealed off near to the junction of Carr View Avenue as South Yorkshire Fire and Rescue crews tackle the flames.

Footage from the scene shows flames spreading through the rooves of the four, three-storey houses which overlook Westfield Park.

Fire engulfs the houses on Balby Road.

It is not known at this stage whether anyone has been injured in the incident or what caused the blaze.

It is understood that some of the houses have been converted to flats and individual bedsits.

People have been gathering in nearby Westfield Park to watch fire crews as they tackle the flames.

Video footage shows a huge pall of smoke drifting across the area.
