A person has died after being hit by a train on the East Coast Main Line.
The incident caused major disruption to LNER and Hull Trains services
A British Transport Police spokesman said: “Officers were called to the line near Newark-on-Trent at around 6.48am today (22 May) following reports of a casualty on the tracks. Paramedics also attended, however sadly a person was pronounced dead at the scene.
"The incident is not being treated as suspicious and a file will be prepared for the coroner.”
