Youths spend New Year's Day cleaning up streets of Doncaster
A group of young people started off 2026 by cleaning up the streets of Doncaster.
They were among hundreds of volunteers from the Ahmadiyya Muslim Youth Association (AMYA) Yorkshire, who started the new year by serving their local communities.

Youths from seven AMYA Yorkshire branches took part in their annual New Year’s Day Street Clean, a tradition that has been upheld for decades.
From 5am, volunteers were out across Sheffield, Rotherham, Doncaster, Spen Valley, Scunthorpe and Huddersfield, helping to clear litter and restore town and city centres following New Year’s Eve celebrations.
This initiative is entirely voluntary and organised by the young people themselves.

For many of the volunteers, beginning the year by giving back is both meaningful and motivating. It offers a practical way to express gratitude for the communities they live in and reinforces the importance of taking responsibility for shared public spaces, they say.
The Ahmadiyya Muslim Youth Association is one of the largest Muslim youth organisations in the UK, with a strong focus on service, leadership and positive civic engagement.
The clean-up reflects a core Islamic principle of service to humanity and the Ahmadiyya Muslim Community’s long-standing motto, “Love for All, Hatred for None.”
