World cinema first as 'one of greatest films of all time' to be shown in Doncaster
A film which has often been described as “one of the greatest of all time” is to be screened in Doncaster this week – marking a world cinema first for the city.
In The Mood For Love, the 2000 cinematic masterpiece by director Wong Kar Wai, will be shown at Doncaster’s Little Theatre on February 27 as the latest showing in cult cinema club’s In The Mood For Film programme.
A spokesperson said: “After our successful first year, we wanted to bring an even more diverse selection of films to the city this year and this is the first time we believe that a world cinema screening like this has been shown in Doncaster.
“We’re showing Wong Kar-wai’s In the Mood for Love because it captures everything we believe cinema can be: – quiet, romantic, and emotionally overwhelming.

"A film about longing, restraint, and the moments that live in the spaces between words.
“It’s also where our name In The Mood for Film comes from. This film shaped our love for cinema and reminds us why watching together, on the big screen, still matters.
“Our screenings are very inclusive, if you love film, regardless of what genre it is, come along to one of our screenings.
"Our audience is as much part of the experience as the film itself and you'll find a community of like minded people all there to talk about their favourites.
“There's an incorrect perception that a lot of world cinema can feel overly arty or hard to follow.
"We know with this that it is a fantastic introduction to world cinema if you've never done any before and is a great opportunity to give it a go on the big screen without having to head to a different city.
An international co-production between Hong Kong and France, the film follows a man (Tony Leung) and a woman (Maggie Cheung) in 1962 who discover that their spouses are having an affair. As they spend time together, they gradually develop feelings for one another and is considered one of the great works of Asian cinema.
