Tributes paid following death of well-known and popular Doncaster market butcher
Bernard Wilkinson, who ran Wilkinson’s Butchers on Doncaster Market for many years before his retirement, died last month at the age of 91.
A post on the stall’s Facebook page said Mr Wilkinson had died on May 17 ‘after a long old tussle with vascular dementia.’

Hide AdIt said: “He was a true gentleman and a very loving family man. It’s been over 20 years since he last worked in the shop and we still get asked “how’s Bernard” almost daily.
“He enjoyed 91 fun filled years and my god were we all privileged to know him!”
A spokesman for Doncaster Market said: “Our thoughts are with the whole family during this time. Bernard Wilkinson, a true market legend!”
An obituary added: “Bernard will be sadly missed by his loving family and friends.”
