Officers checked speeds during Saturday after complaints about speeding vehicles in the Hatfield Woodhouse.

A spokesman said: “Due to ongoing complaints from residents, Doncaster East local policing team have conducted a speeding operation on Bawtry Road, Hatfield Woodhouse.”

Residents have backed the move on social media – but some comments said that they were too conspicuous and that motorists would see them before they got there.

One said: “Brilliant stuff. Good to see you're trying to slow drivers down going through the village.

Another added: “The racers use this road and speed down to Blaxton roundabout and then head straight across or left towards Westwoodside at ridiculous speeds.”

Another said: “This road needs a speed camera or an average speed camera that goes down Bawtry road onto main street and past the school... the entire 30 road.”
