Old school of Doncaster Grammy winner Yungblud shares cute snap after star's win
Here’s award-winning Doncaster rock star Yungblud as you’ve never seen him before – after his old school shared this cute snap to congratulate him on his Grammy win.
The singer, whose real name is Dominic Harrison, won music’s most prestigious prize, winning the Best Rock Performance Grammy at the ceremony in Los Angeles for his rendition of Black Sabbath’s Changes at last summer’s Ozzy Osbourne tribute concert at Birmingham’s Villa Park.
And his old school has congratulated him on his victory – and shared this snap of him appearing in a school production several years ago.
A spokesperson for Ackworth School, between Doncaster and Wakefield, wrote: “Huge congratulations to Ackworth Old Scholar Dominic Harrison, aka Yungblud, on his Grammy win this week

"From the Fothergill Theatre stage to the world stage - we are so proud to see how far he’s come.
“Former Head of Drama, Richard Vergette, fondly remembers Yungblud performing at Ackworth, taking part in productions such as 'The Government Inspector' and 'A Christmas Carol', and already showing the originality, energy and fearlessness that define his career today.
"We can’t wait to see what he does next - with warm wishes from everyone at Ackworth School.”
His winning performance came for his take on the Black Sabbath classic at the 2025 Back to the Beginning concert, just a few weeks before Ozzy’s death.
"To grow up loving an idol who helps you figure out your identity not only as a musician but also as a man is something that I'm truly grateful for,” he said in his acceptance speech.
"For then to get to know them and form a relationship with them and honor them at their final show and then receive this, the cost of it is something I and all of us are finding so strange to comprehend. We f****** love you, Ozzy," he said, to loud cheers from the audience.
"We would all like to thank Sharon, Jack, Kelly and Aimee for this opportunity, everyone at the Back to the Beginning show.
"The whole band with me right now are six generations who came together in the name of our genre, in the name of Sabbath and the name of Ozzy Osbourne," he continued.
"I want to thank my team and everyone on all their teams. I deeply love this genre. It's all I've ever known. I want to dedicate this to everyone in the guitar shop I grew up in and everyone in a guitar shop or a bedroom with a dream. Rock music is coming back. Watch out pop music, we're gonna f*****' get ya," he added.
The guitar shop reference was a nod to the former Doncaster guitar shop Music Ground, which was based in Hall Gate and run by his dad Justin and late grandad Rick.
The musical emporium attracted a string of big music names over the years, including Oasis star Noel Gallagher, guitar icon Johnny Marr and Canadian rock star Bryan Adams.
Continuing his speech, Yungblud said: "The last time I saw Ozzy Osbourne, you asked if there's anything you could do for me," he said of Ozzy.
"I answered the music was enough and I can safely say on behalf of all of us that still stands now and will forever. You'll be with me every time I'm nervous and onstage at every show. God bless rock music and god bless f***ing Ozzy Osbourne,” he said.
Going into the ceremony, he had received nominations in three categories for Best Rock Song ("Zombie"), Best Rock Performance ("Changes" Live from Villa Park) and Best Rock Album (Idols).
Fittingly, his nominations were revealed by Osbourne's wife Sharon and son Jack.
The Grammy Awards are awards presented by The Recording Academy of the United States to recognise outstanding achievements in music.
They are regarded by many as the most prestigious and significant awards in the music industry worldwide and thus the show is frequently called "music's biggest night.”
