International Women’s Day: Mother Hooker's crochet social group distributing pre-loved books written by female authors across Doncaster

These books are free to those lucky enough to find them in cafes, shops, libraries, community spaces across the city.
The books have been donated for the event, are wrapped in brown paper which has a brief synopsis of the book written on the cover.

Hide AdIncluded in the gift is a crocheted bookmark, made by one of the members of the group.
A spokesman said: “Should anyone come across one of the books we would be grateful if you would take a photograph of the book and where you found it and add it to one of our social media pages.”
The Mother Hookers are a social group who meet at the Café 1910 every second Monday daytime, every second Monday evening at the Barley Twist and every second Thursday evening at the Wool Market.
Should you wish to join in, you can just turn up – no need to book. Take your your own project, or work on one of the community projects.
