International street artist Peachzz to create new mural outside library

Acclaimed mural artist Peachzz will be working with Mexborough Library to create a new large‑scale artwork on the exterior of the building.

The mural will celebrate Mexborough’s unique identity and will be shaped directly by local people through a series of workshops and drop‑in sessions for residents and library users.

The new exterior mural will complement the interior transformation completed in 2025 by Yorkshire interior designer Siobhan Murphy, who created an inspirational children’s library space inspired by woodlands and nature.

Coun David Nevett, Cabinet Member for Adult Social Care, Wellbeing and Culture said: “We are delighted to welcome Peachzz to Mexborough as part of our ongoing investment in culture, libraries and community spaces.

“Her work has been celebrated across the region and this mural will be a fantastic opportunity for local residents to help shape a unique artwork that reflects the spirit of Mexborough. I encourage everyone to get involved in the workshops and help bring this exciting project to life.”

Residents of Mexborough are invited to take part in free creative workshops and drop‑ins to contribute their ideas, themes, memories and imagery that reflect the town’s heritage, people and environment.

These sessions will directly inform the final mural design, ensuring the artwork is rooted in the identity and aspirations of the local community.

Residents can meet Peachzz for a drink and chat at Mexborough Library on:

Monday 9 February, 1.30-4.30pm

Thursday 12 February, 10am-12pm

Rachel Blake, Project Manager, added: “Peachzz’s creative style and her commitment to working closely with communities make her the perfect artist for this project.

“We want this mural to feel truly owned by the people of Mexborough, and the workshops will ensure that local stories, experiences and ideas form the heart of the final design. We’re thrilled to bring such an inspiring opportunity to the library and look forward to seeing the artwork evolve.”

This project is funded through the Arts Council England Library Improvement Fund and Levelling Up, supporting creative placemaking and community‑led cultural activity across Doncaster.

The project also supports Doncaster’s involvement in the Go All In: National Year of Reading campaign, using creativity and visual storytelling to inspire children and families to connect with books, imagination and their local library in new ways.
