Jonathan Worthey, aged 53, of Bawtry, will join Royal Marines Commando Olly Osborne, aged 37 to raise money for The Royal Marines Charity and Cancer Research UK - by rowing, skiing and cycling on gym machines.

Jonathan said: "Concept2 fitness machines require a significant amount of effort to sustain the pace required for this challenge. We aim to complete it in under 18 hours with just a handful of breaks. Nearer the time we will be asking the public to come along and cheer us on and bring us high calorie food to keep us going....or to make a donation to the charities. The more we can raise, the better, as many charities have suffered because of the Coronavirus outbreak."

The challenge will take place at The Crown Hotel, Bawtry, starting on the evening of October 30 and running through Halloween. The pair are encouraging supporters to join them on October 31 between 9am and 6pm. The public can also join in on the day by taking part in a 30-calorie rowing challenge with prizes up for grabs (supported by businesses).

Jonathan added: "This will take me back to my Royal Marine days and the endurance training. Do you think we can do this in 18 hours? It will be tough, but we are determined to push through to raise as much money as possible for our chosen charities."

The pair are now looking for local and national businesses to support them and are asking the public to sponsor them. To show your support either call Jonathan on 07790190688 or visit https://www.justgiving.com/team/calorie-concept2-challenge
