Famous Disney stage show arrives in Doncaster village

Dozens of youngsters at de Warenne Academy have got together to put on a production of the Disney version of Beauty and the Beast.
Performances have been taking place at the school throughout this week.

Hide AdYear 11 pupils Phoebe Nicholls, Tegan Boswell and Brad Dyas were cast in the main roles in the production, as Belle, the Beast, and Gaston respectively.
The show has been produced by teacher Scott Willis, and in total, there have been 35 pupils taking part in the performances. It was directed by performing arts teacher Sarah Heath, with music teacher Helen Hunt working as director of music.
It features the songs from the Disney cartoon version of the story, including Be Our Guest, Beauty and the Beast, and Gaston, and ran until Thursday March 5.
Mr Willis said: “They’ve been working on this since the start of September, and all age groups at the school have been involved.

Hide Ad“It’s got all the songs and has been a slightly cut down version of the Broadway version, to be more accessible for schools.
“I think the pupils have done an amazing job since September to make it happen.”
The school runs a production every year and Beauty and the Beast follows on from a production made up of different songs from musicals, which was perforned at the school at Christmas.
Plans are now being put in place for a show next year – which is due to be a production of Shrek.
