Rebecca Snape, aged 38, has always liked running but it wasn’t until the lockdown that she had the time to dedicate to large challenges.

After successfully completing 100k in a month she decided to try 100 miles.

Rebecca, from Sprotbrough, said: “I love the feeling of accomplishment you get from running.

Rebecca works in child and adolescent mental health and has been very busy over the last few months.

She initially started running large distances as she is planning on taking part in a marathon to raise money for the British Heart Foundation.

“My brother has health issues with his heart and so I signed up to run a marathon next year in April to hopefully raise some money for BHF,” she said.

“But once I started training it just felt so good I wanted to set myself goals to keep me motivated.”

Rebecca is a single mother and has had to juggle her running time with parental responsibilities.

But she has brought six-year-old Grace out with her a number of times and she even completed an eight-mile bike ride.

Running has given me a lot of confidence and reminded me that I’m stronger than I thought I was,” she said.

“The first couple of miles are always hard but once you push through and get your breathing right it just feels amazing.”

Rebecca says she has also benefited from seeing other people out and about getting fresh air and exercising.

“It can feel very claustrophobic at the minute, stuck inside watching the news and worrying about the world.

“But outside people will smile and wave as they pass and it feels sort of normal.”
