Doncaster school pupils set to take to stage in Legally Blonde musical spectacular

Pupils from one of Doncaster’s biggest secondary schools are set to step into the limelight next week with their production of a popular stage musical.

Students at Ridgewood School in Scawsby will be staging Legally Blonde: The Musical next week – and the production is set to be an all-singing, all-dancing spectacular.

Pupils from year seven to 13 will be staging the show, which runs from Tuesday to Friday, March 13.

Performances will start from 6pm in the Faraday Auditorium and tickets are available from the school.

Prices are £10 for adults, £6 for children and £5 for Ridgewood students.

Refreshments will be available and there will be a ‘poochie’ selfie station and raffle every evening.

The 2007 musical is based on the novel Legally Blonde by Amanda Brown and the 2001 film of the same name, starring Reese Witherspoon.

It tells the story of Elle Woods, a sorority girl who enrolls at Harvard Law School to win back her ex-boyfriend Warner.

She discovers how her knowledge of the law can help others, and successfully defends exercise queen Brooke Wyndham in a murder trial. Throughout the show, no one has faith in Elle Woods, but she manages to surprise them when she defies expectations while staying true to herself.

The show has had several runs on Broadway and in the West End as well as across the country and The West End production was nominated for five Laurence Olivier Awards and won three, including the Best New Musical award.
