The Keepmoat Stadium will be hosting a variety of book themed activities as part of a nationwide scheme aimed at getting children reading and connected with literacy.

Club Doncaster Foundation sport development officer Kelly Jackson-Powell said: “We want to get across the message that its not just about reading and work in the classroom and take the focus elsewhere.

This weekend’s event follows on from a successful literacy project in September which included a celebration event at the Keepmoat Stadium with over 180 children involved.

Saturday’s activities, which will tie in with World Book Day 2020 include:

A book bank

WHSmith book vouchers being given away to young supporters

Anyone wanting to donate books to the book bank can leave books suitable for children aged 3-11 years at the DRFC Frenchgate hub, or the club shop or East Stand reception at the Keepmoat Stadium.

The books donated will be delivered to schools in Doncaster on March 5.

Added Kelly: “We want to promote literacy through the power of sport and the power of the badge.”
